Danielle Kang earns top-five finish at Lake Merced

by Preston Smith

With the strong finish, Kang increases her stranglehold on a top-four spot on the women’s side of the Olympic Golf Ranking. She currently sits sixth overall in the Ranking and is the second-ranked American woman (behind Nelly Korda – fourth). Kang sits just ahead of Lexi Thompson (seventh) and Jessica Korda (13th) inside the top-four of American players.

The women’s Olympic Golf Ranking will be finalized in two weeks following the KPMG Women's PGA Championship as the top-four ranked Americans (as long as each are in the top-15 in the Olympic Golf Ranking) will be set for the Olympic Games in Tokyo.

Ally Ewing (18th in the Olympic Golf Ranking) and Jennifer Kupcho (25th) look to be the strongest competition to rise to one of the top-four slots.
